Ok, so here we are, June 25th and still no Reseda beach. We get about 100 messages a day asking when the album is gonna come out. our answer...We dont know. At the risk of looking vulnerable (so frowned upon in hip hop) we cant even explain to you the level of frustration we're going thru as a group. We cant seem to get an answer out of anybody. You would think we killed the president of Warner music's dog or something. Release the album or release the group. Seems pretty simple right? Considering we're signed to Linkin park, the biggest rock group on the planet you would think they could get this situation with Warner resolved in a timely fashion right?? Mike Shinoda should just march his ass into Tom Whalleys office and demand answers right?? fucking wrong. The phone has stopped ringing. Days turn into weeks, weeks turn into months and not a solution in sight. We get that question all the time...why doesnt Shinoda do something about it? again...we dont know. He's on tour 366 days a year so we imagine that is a factor. In a meeting not too long ago Mike had said "i would never take food out of your kids mouths."..but if your not doing everything you can to put food in it, thats just as bad. This record deal has effectively taken food out of our kids mouths. We in no way blame Machineshop, Shinoda,or LP for Warner bros actions. We do however blame them for not demanding answers, solutions, or alternative options now! This is not the update we intended giving, but if anybody is gonna keep it honest with you, you know we will everytime. And Reseda beach will come out this summer. stay tuned. peace-Ryu, SoB

The reason that warner borther has not released it is prob about money. It might be that it cost more to release it the album than they think they will get back in revenue. Normaly its about money, thats what it is at the end of the day

your absolutely right, but considering the bullshit warner banks on as of late, i consider us a safe bet. executive produced by Shinoda,featuring michael buble and j-dilla, not to mention scoop (producer of the last 2 snoop dogg singles) they are seriously buggin cuz this record is hot. this is a summer record. i'd rather give it away to the fans who waited for it, than have some shitheads make money off it. i guess the major lable game wasn't designed for me. im not used to depending on other people to get money for me. If you heard this album right now, you would understand why i say its a summer record. listening in the cold doesnt have the same impact

I mean, he's the one who got you guyz involved with Machine Shop in the first place, he could be busy touring, but what effort could it cost you to do a phone call after one of the shows? I'm not saying he could do anything, but since he's signed there longtime already, he should be able to get some answers

If they decide not to release the album anyway, you should put it out for free, stab their eyes out by showing em how much of a success the album turns out to be.
You'll see, since FM, your album is one of the most anticipated ever, if you see how many people visit your myspace page etc... Warner is fucking blind for it, and you could get at em with that. As for me, I'll def buy the album, whether it's released under Machine shop or not.

we were supposed to have singles out right now, but warner wont release our marketing budget to promote them. i love Damn by the way, i think that would be a good single at some point

Because they've signed a contract with warner.. and they've made this album under this contract.
warner need to release them to allow them to release the album elsewhere.. and i'm not even sure they woud be able, it'd depend if Warner own the album or not as they made it while the contract.

Exactly, it doesn't make sense, business-wise.

You guys are different (in a good way) then what they're puttin' out right now, but so were LP, now look at 'em.

Plus, you've got 2 classic albums out already, street promotion from the Evil Genius, an international FM tour with Mike Shinoda, including appearences on MTV and Leno.
You've got featurings from both the popular mainstream (Shinoda/Buble/Scoop/Dilla), and the well-respected underground (Apathy/Celph).
Not to mention a good sized and already established fan-base, which will grow if the album is promoted properly.

"Taking a chance" on you guys can only be looked at as a good idea.

Even if you guys don't sell a single record, don't get a tour goin', or gain any fan-base, so what?

Most labels will only take what they think will work for them, ergo you being signed, and will practically force the artist on the mainstream, even if they're not very wanted.
You guys are both wanted and respected in the game, and they obviously thought you were worth it, or they wouldnt've signed you.
So if they lost cash on you, which they wouldn't, it'd be one loss in a sea of artists they'd still be makng loads of cash off of.

It's a win/not really lose proposition for Warner.

I bet it's for the same reason...
If MSR decides not to release the album they'll force SOB to pay to release on their own, cuz it's made under contract as stated above. That's why a leak works the best if there's no way to move the label. Don't let the band members do it themselves, but let someone not involved "or apparentely not involved" with SOBC leak it, that way MSR is gonna have two options, release the album or give the guys their rights back. My sister is signed to a label in my country. They had the same problem too. I had the single already and leaked it, a week later the vid was released.
Apart from that, the promotional stuff shouldn't be a problem, make SOBX your official street team. i got all we need to get everyone on here stuff to promote you guys
